St. Louis Guardian Ad Litem (GAL)
A Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) is a person who is appointed by the court to represent the best interests and welfare of minor children. Many people are unaware of what a Guardian Ad Litem is or the role one has a Guardian Ad Litem.
Example of times when a Guardian Ad Litem is appointed by the courts for the fest interests of a minor child include:
- Child Abuse or Neglect (particularly by the parent of legal guardian)
- Other instances where the parent or legal guardian is unable to make legal decisions for the child
Family law attorney David Shaller has taken the necessary steps to be a Guardian Ad Litem for the St. Louis County Family Court. This is a role many attorneys do not pursue as it can be very time consuming and not profit oriented. David Shaller's commitment to helping families and children has always been at the forefront of his legal practice and so he continues to serve as a Guardian Ad Litem after more than 25 years as an attorney.
